When last we spoke with Erik Myers, in 2012, he was the captivating headliner at a small black box theater on Oakland Park Boulevard called the Fort Lauderdale Comedy Club, a step on his way back up the comedy ladder after a messy detour with drugs and alcohol. He was a year sober, partial to cans of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks, had just won the title Florida’s Funniest Comedian in a statewide competition, and had his eye on bigger things. Five years later, fresh from a run at the L.A. Comedy Club at the Stratosphere Casino in Las Vegas, Myers brings his frenetic “Dopeless Romantic” observations back to South Florida for sets 8 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 24) for the Lettuce Laugh series at the Farmer’s Table in Boca Raton
